Kitchen towels XKKO Organic - an ecological alternative to paper kitchen towels.
Two layers of fabric made from excellent bird's eye weave. The towels are edge-entwined, additionally stitched with a center seam.
Why two layers when one would be enough? We don't settle for half solutions. Two layers mean more cotton, greater absorbency, and the towel retains its original shape more easily. Furthermore, the towel feels thicker and is very easy to handle.
Why do we weave the towels in a bird's eye style? This fabric is much smoother than terry cloth and seems absolutely perfect for kitchen towels to us. Like any cotton, XKKO kitchen towels should be washed several times with regular laundry before use, significantly increasing their absorbency. This pre-wash is necessary to remove natural cotton oils present in unbleached cotton.
Organic cotton with a GOTS certificate (Global Organic Textile Standard) is grown without chemical spraying while utilizing natural laws.
Natural biodiversity, crop rotation, and compost fertilization keep the soil healthy and full of nutrients. Instead of using chemical preparations, weeds are removed by simple manual weeding and hoeing, mulching, more efficient irrigation and growing of multiple plant species together.
Only natural insecticides are used and various methods (such as planting of specific crops) encourage the occurrence of natural enemies of plant pests. The picking of cotton blossoms is often done by hand or by other very gentle methods, and always without the action of chemicals used to defoliate plants.
